Apart from classical violin, Marina loves singing jazz and how it intersects with her Spanish heritage and classical training.

Marina graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with a BM in Violin Performance  and a minor in jazz studies in May 2024. At IU she studied under Sachal Vasandani, Rachel Caswell and Wayne Wallace.

She specializes in Jazz vocals including Swing, Bebop, Afro-cuban styles, Brazilian Jazz. She is also a great advocate and performs regularly modern cross-genre fusions of indie, soul, folk, funk and jazz.

Around Bloomington, Marina has been lead singer of the IU Latin Jazz Ensemble conducted by Grammy-award winning composer Wayne Wallace, and Dr. Galvin for 3 years. She also sings lead for the indie-alternative jazz band Branches and Tate Sherman & The Big Push, a newly-formed and rising jazz sextet.


Marina has sung at the Aman Hotel Jazz Club (NYC), So & So's (NYC), Buskirk-Chumley Theater, Indiana University Musical Arts Center, IU Ford Hall, Tempo 110, the Blockhouse Bar, Slyde at 23, and at the Heifetz Institute. She has also being featured performing jazz vocals with the Heifetz Ensemble on Tour, with which she has sang in venues around Rhode Island and Maine.


In addition to singing jazz, she also plays and improvises violin in these genres, as well as Jazz manouche, flamenco and free jazz. She also composes and arranges tunes to cross boundaries and create new sounds within the jazz realm.
